Admission Criteria

1. Students, who have passed 10+2 final examination or equivalent for the institution enlisted by The University of Burdwan can apply for admission into undergraduate courses.
2.  Candidature is liable to be cancelled if any wrong data is produced at the time of application/ verification.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Following instruction issued by the University of Burdwan vide Circular No. RC/PERM/ ADM/539 dated 08.05.07, the formula for calculation of aggregate for admission to the 1st year courses at UG level (Session 2017-2018) will be:

Aggregate = Language 1 + Language 2 + Sum of best 3 electives out of 4
                                                                        5
Aggregate = Language 1 X2 + Sum of best 3 electives out of 4/5 (If one language)  
                                                         5

  1. Candidates who have passed (10+2) Final Examination conducted by NOS/ IGNOU/ Rabindra Mukta Vidayalaya/NETAJI SUBHAS OPEN UNIVERSITY should have at least five subjects of 100 marks each including at least one language subject (English or Bengali) and three conventional subjects will be considered for admission in the 1st year if found eligible.
  2. No candidate prior to 2015 will be entertained.

Marks secured by WBCHSE candidates in Environmental Studies will not be counted for calculating aggregate. However, marks secured in Environmental Studies by non-WBCHSE candidates may be counted for calculating aggregate if that marks comes within the best three Electives.
If there is just one language, aggregate will have to be calculated with the single language and four best Electives. If there are only four Electives apart from the language, all the Four Electives should be considered for calculating aggregate.

CALCULATION OF MERIT SCORE

MERIT SCORE= (AVERAGE OF BEST 4 SUBJECTS INCLUDING AT LEAST 1 LANGUAGE) + SUBJECT MARKS*

*For the following Honours subjects, which are not widely taught in most of the schools, marks of the alternative subjects as mentioned will be considered as desired subjects for merit marks calculation:

Important Information for the Admission 2017-18 :

1. Applications are to be accepted only through the online procedure.
2. Applicants have to provide email address and mobile number in the application form. Personal email ID and mobile number of the applicant is mandatory for submission of application..
3. For Honours subject the applicant has to apply individually for each Honours subject.
4. Name of the Applicant (in BLOCK LETTERS) are to be filled up according to the admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations.
5. Category: Please select General, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Physically Handicapped (PH), OBC (A), OBC (B)
6. The Date of Birth is to be written according to the admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations.
7. Council / Board / University: The name of the Higher Secondary Council or the equivalent exam is to be written for admission in B.A /B.Sc course.
8. Year of passing (last qualifying Exam): The year of passing of the last qualifying Exam (H.S or equivalent exams) is to be written for admission in B.A /B.Sc course.
9. Marks Aggregate in H.S. or Equivalent Exam: The numbers of the Best 5 Subjects are to be
considered as Aggregate Marks and the percentage is to be calculated out of 500. Alternative English is to be taken as the compulsory subject where ‘Bengali’ is not a subject in H.S.
10. The number of seats in each subject is fixed. Candidates are to be selected according to the result in the H.S or equivalent exams.
11. The admission to the Honours streams are to be made online. The vacancy in different streams after the first phase of online admission is to be notified in the college notice board and website.
12. The students passed in the Vocational Streams of H.S. (10+2) can only apply for the Honours in Computer Science.
13. The candidates passed H.S before 2015 are not to be considered for admission in B.A/B.Sc course in 2017.
14. The candidates who have taken admission elsewhere are admitted to this college provisionally. However transfer certificate or admission cancellation certificate from the previous institution is to be submitted within seven days of provisional admission otherwise the admission to this college may be cancelled.
15. The college authority has the right to cancel the admission if any information in the application form is found to be suppressed or wrong. The decision of the college authority is final in case of admission.
16. All admissions are provisional until the verification and approval of University of Burdwan.

Step by Step online Application Procedure :
Step 1: Fill up your name, Stream (10+2 level), Caste and name of the qualifying examination.
Step 2: Insert your academic details of class 10 + 2 level. Enter the 10+2 subject names in full and correct spelling.
Step 3: Select “stream”(Science/Arts), then click on Honours, then select the “Honours Subject”
Step 4:  Insert your academic details of class 10 level. In the “Subject Combination” mention all the subjects in class 10 level.
Step 5: Fill up your personal details Date of birth, Religion, Gender
Step 6: Fill up 10+2 level State where the board/ council is situated, select passing year, mention board, school name, roll and number, registration number and registration year.
Step 7: Fill up residential address and permanent address.
Step 8: Provide email id, phone number, mobile number, nationality, state.
Step 9: Mention the degree of disability if applied.
Step 10: Mention the full name of father and mother.
Step 11: Mention the occupation of guardian.
Step 12: Mention guardian’s phone number.
Step 13: Upload photo and signature.
Step 14: You have to preview the form before final submission of application and then submit the application form.
After successfully submission of the form a registration number will appear. Please note the registration number for login and future reference. Click on the Login button and please enter your Registration No. and Date of birth to login to download the application form and payment of fee.
Step 15: After logging into candidates have to pay the Application fees of Rs. 100/- by two ways-

  • By Net-banking or /credit/debit card.
  • Applicant can also submit the application fees at any of the SBI brunches using the chalan generated after successful submission of the form.

Mode of Payments :

Online- Billdesk and SBI
Offline- SBI (through challan)

Procedure of Admission :

  1. After submitting the application form, candidates should pay application fee through online (SBI online or Billdesk by credit/debit card or internet banking) or offline mode by generating challan and depositing the fee in nearest SBI Bank.
  2. After the publication of merit list the selected candidates for each subject will be intimated through email or SMS, candidates have to log in to the website and make the payment either through online or offline mode to complete the admission procedure.
  3. Candidates have to visit college with documents mentioned at the time of verification. All admissions are provisional until the verification and approval of University of Burdwan.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF VERIFICATION :

  1. A printout of application form submitted through online with two passport size photos.
  2. The print out of the application form must be signed by the candidate and the respective guardian.
  3. Original and self attested copy of mark sheet of Higher Secondary and Secondary or its equivalent. The marksheet of Higher Secondary should not be laminated.
  4. Original and self attested copy of date of birth proof, such as Madhyamik admit card must be submitted.
  5. All the original documents must be brought during the time of VERIFICATION in the college.
  6. In case of SC, ST, OBC A and OBC B candidates, should bring original certificate issued from SDO or DM and for physically handicapped must bring certificates from the concerned authorities. All the original certificates must be brought along with the self attested copy must be submitted during the time of VERIFICATION in the college.
  7. Payment receipt should be brought whether online or offline payment during the time of VERIFICATION.
