The Hooghly district of West Bengal has always been regarded as a centre of academics with famous ancient Colleges for its discrete and unrivalled glory. The Government General Degree College, Singur affiliated to the University of Burdwan has in fact enhanced the glory of this region to a considerable extent within first five years of its existence.
Established in 2013 on more than 7 acres of land situated in a fresh greeny serene backdrop, the College is just 5 min away from Singur Station on Howrah- Tarakeswar Railway, just 2 Kilometres away from Durgapur Expressway and only 35 Kilometres away from Kolkata.

Government General Degree College, Singur is the youngest Government College in the District of Hooghly of West Bengal.
The College started its Journey in 2013 when the name of this Town, “Singur” is almost familiar in the entire country due to the Singur movement which is one of the most important social developments in post-independence West Bengal that has the potentiality to influence the dynamics of change not just in the State but in other parts of India as well.
