Government General Degree College, Singur, is the youngest Government College in the District of Hooghly, West Bengal. The College started its journey in 2013 when the name of this town, ‘Singur’ became known to the entire country due to the Singur movement which is till date regarded as one of the most important social developments in post-independence West Bengal which influenced the dynamics of social change not just in the State but in whole country as well. The College obtained permanent affiliation from Burdwan University and recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) with "2f" and "12b" certification. I feel proud to be a part of all these affiliation process as I joined the College as Principal in 2017. The students of this College keep on making us proud with their success. The enthusiasm and scholastic approach of the teachers help the institution reach the pinnacle of success. Last but not the least, the support from the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal helps us to develop this College as a foremost institute offering degree course only in Honours subjects in this region.
