About the Department

Philosophy is an activity of critical inquiry and a comprehensive process of thought. It involves testing and evaluating positions, uncovering assumptions and examining philosophical systems. Philosophy, being a rational inquiry, sharpens our thinking, enriches our understanding and expands our intellectual horizons. To acquaint students with such a philosophical understanding the Department of Philosophy offers programme of teaching in philosophy at Graduation level covering various areas of Philosophy viz. Classical Indian tradition like Jainism, Nyaya Philosophy, Buddhism, Vedanta Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Religion, Logic, Ethics, Applied Ethics, Socio-Political Philosophy and Western Philosophy. The Department under Govt. General Degree College at Singur, started its journey in the year of 2013.
The Govt. General Degree at Singur is very much up and doing in promoting high-level educational access to all the students with a view to making the educational policy of the State Government a success within the stipulated period of time.
